Job Descriptions:

Linux Engineer:

System Administration:

• Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux servers and workstations.

• Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure system stability and reliability.

• Apply necessary security patches and updates regularly.

• Support and Troubleshooting:

• Provide technical support for Linux systems and networks.

• Identify and resolve system vulnerabilities, service interruptions, and performance issues.

• Manage user accounts, permissions, and access to system resources.

• Network and Security Management:

• Configure and manage firewalls, VPNs, and other network security measures.

• Conduct regular security audits and ensure systems comply with ISRO security protocols.

• Monitor and maintain network services like DNS, DHCP, NFS, and others.

• Automation and Scripting:

• Automate repetitive tasks using shell scripting, Python, or other tools.

• Develop and maintain automation scripts for system deployments, updates, and backups.

• Storage Management:

• Manage and maintain file systems, storage devices, and backup solutions.

• Optimize storage resources and ensure data integrity.

• Collaboration:

• Work closely with the engineering teams and other stakeholders to meet the technical requirements of the project.

• Collaborate in research and development of new tools and technologies to enhance system performance.

• Documentation:

• Maintain comprehensive documentation of system configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.

• Provide detailed technical reports and system performance metrics.

• Expertise in Linux/Unix Administration (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu, etc.).

• Proficiency in shell scripting and familiarity with Python or other scripting languages.

• Experience with network management, DNS, NFS, firewall, and VPN configuration.

• Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef is preferred.

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies like KVM, Docker, or VMware.

• Strong understanding of security principles and the ability to implement security best practices.

• Good understanding of storage management and backup strategies.
